The chamber by the garden was open to the cool air.
“I’ve really have enjoyed the talks and the the the what do you call it again? To me it will always be tea to me. I must go and file my report”

The the the title escapes me, he’s a senschel; but I’m not sure he is nobility. Anyway he stands as if to see me off. “Is there nothing I can say to keep you?”
‘I’m afraid not”
“Then I’m sorry I must arrest you.” He knew my service agents were armed with beam weapons, and that I would not ask them to usde them.
“Let me guess orders from the lord of the planet”
“His most regal and mighty, yes.” he answered with a little humour.
“Listen I’ve always thought of our relationship with amity, I beg of you not to do this. There’s no way you can win by aressting me.” I pointedly looked at both of my guards.

His Gangalic was almost perfect, “I wish it were otherwise, but …” he spread his arms wide as he bowed out of the room. he loked the large doors as he exited.

Shit this is bad if he tries to ransom me like the local custom goes then he might as well abdicate. If the cargo vessel comes and there’s no contract then we are all in big trouble. Is this why this feudal ag planet is ambered? Whoever deals with us should get stronger then why is it harder and harder to get a stable goverment here?

This was the second prompt of the insane journal’s 15 min ficlet. I had about 30 minutes with it across the day.

NaNo jitters

Posted in blogging, NaNoWriMo, writing at 19:40 0 by gillsmoke

I’ve been having talks with my internal editor who keeps going, “you can’t write.” “You never going to make 50k.” “Why are you even bothering?” I tell them to shut up and go away, but after a day or two I come back to what I have written and I have to tell you, ‘not so good’ is what comes to mind. I need to do the editing that’s in point 6 but we’re not there yet BTW, CRSE’s a brute

5.    Respect
The key thing here was passion being famous amongst bloggers is a losers reward. having the key guy in you obsession know who you are is the coolest thing for a fanboy. Hey if I see Adam West at a convention, I think I might ask four questions about Fairly odd parents, mostly because the rest of the pannel are Batman people. Now looking at me I don’t denigrate people, say generally offensive things.

If you knew my wife you’d know she’s a sissy and doesn’t like hurting anything. I called her a brute because she hit me in the nose, not that I didn’t deserve it, sending my glasses flying and giving me a bloody nose. It was an accident, it was kind of funny. I was looking to leave a clue and pick it up later. I reread it now and it looks like I’m antagonistic with my wife, in a very cliche not us kind of way.

TC writing prompt 06 oct 2008

Posted in NaNoWriMo, writing, writing prompts at 14:08 0 by gillsmoke

“The trick to it is remembering how to begin.”

The illusionist tricks all start the same way, reveal the apperatus to be exactly as it is. the handcuffs are sturdy, the straight jacket has no flaws. What you see is what you get. “just an ordinary deck of cards, lookie lookie, nothing up my sleeves.” but wizard magic, that is always harder. making something from nothing. But knowing where to begin is also a matter of following the directions, copy the recipie and up and you get the desired result, just follow the ritual. Now storytelling is like the other two, there’s a recipie, The Pledge, The turn and The Prestige. but The trick to it is remembering how to begin. These days people start in the middle, in years gone by the started at the beginning, soon they will start at the end. Till such times we are where we are. I reall wish we weren’t I wish it were up to others to tell my magic tale but it is left for me.

The trick to it is remembering how to begin. At the end? Lucky Jack gets the girl and the gold? she was going to kill him and he knew it, and she knew he knew it. that’s why they wee perfect for each other. Most of the gangsters were dead and there was going to be a power struggle before anybody remembered why they were in this mess. There’s something wrong with staring there. The denudement meant nothing. Who is she? what gold? and why would we care if gangsters died or not.

The trick to it is remembering how to begin. In the middle, what middle? Lucky Jack plans a hiest, that middle is boring. The The shootout? the sam problem as before, whatever, who cares.

The trick to it is remembering how to begin. I gues we better start at the beginnig, the pledge, make it all worth while. What’s to say, Lucky Jack was an illusionist. He learned all he could, knew the tricks for what they were, knew the point was the misdirect. He studied the darker arts and saw the point there too. Force of will and the stronger will imposed upon others, Whether that be a person, angel or devil, or in the wicca circles, aspects of olden gods. Though not boring the important thing was realizing you had budda nature din’t pay the rent. Money paid the rent. Lot’s of money paid all the bills. That is where Lucky Jack started his plan. The love of money is the root of all evil, Jack didn’t love money it was a tool and his toolset was small (that’s what she said). Jack was never one to get money for it’s own sake. Jack was one who waited for the good life to come knocking.
Jack wanted things easy, he didn’t care about the stains on his soul that he aquired to remain an idler. Robbery, extortion, theft of any kind really. regardless of the source he didn’t feel bad about being damned for all eternity any more. there was a time the mere mention of being damned stopped him cold. not any more. we all go sometime and this time around he was taking it easy.

Writing thoughts

Posted in NaNoWriMo, Random, writing at 16:06 0 by gillsmoke

Waiting for the thoughts to comes, like messengers from other dimensions. waiting for inspiration, the kernel, that one cool thing to frame a story on. Perhaps I’m too much of a literalist. Or too tortured to transgress upon the proffered fruit of imagination. More likely I’m too lazy to work for it. Creative work can be earned as well as inspired. Lacking both I ramble waiting for my more glorious wife to carry the banner further.

Oh, but I’m also so very competetive. I’ll seethe at the thought that she can do what I cannot. No! It isn’t true, she claims to be the idea guy but when I ask for one or more ideas she’d rather hit me. No, I’m as smart as shee is. I get paid to think like she does. I’m as amusing as she is, just a little darker. Oh, please enter NaNoWriMo, Competeing wordcount will drive to new hieghts I’m sure. I may not finish but I’ll be close to you, plus or minus a 1000 words. Already the planned writing spurts are going.

nablowrimo? Oh yeah it’s that time of year and I’m in track.

Posted in NaNoWriMo, writing at 16:02 0 by gillsmoke

OK, did you think I forgot about NaNoWriMo, well I haven’t. It’s October and the time for a warmup for NaNo, blog posts daily.
go here for http://nablowrimo.blogspot.com/ for the rules, and by the wal you all are too late.

So the substancative part of the post, I love tokentool from rptools.net I used it to make all if the tokens for tonights game. I had Norm cut out the rough shapes and I turned them into circles. I used open office’s Draw program to do the layout and in 10 minutes I had a sheet of professional looking tokens ready to play. T just need the scrapbooking 1″ circle punch to makethings go faster.

Now I need to make stamps of textures like the SkeletonKey Games Dungeons, Caves, and  Wilderness sets and map tool should be just as good. I’m thinking about turning up for the RPTool’s monthly meetup tomorrow but I don’t know if we’re going to be home, let me amend that to What time the scoccer game is.

Also mentioned this week the Q4 releases for Living Forgotten Realms, they are all for character levels 4 to 7. I hope they give the occasional low level adventure back instead of wrapping up the campaign in 18 months I definately see a potential for lots of continuing adventures at all three tiers of play I’d hate to see a level bump come into effect for those not in the know a level bump would be new characters start at a certian level instead of first). The other thing I’d hate to see would be repeated waves. All character advance 1 to 30 together because those the only adventures available. The campaign is just starting so we really don’t know how it’s all going to play out.

In other news, scattered frost tonight, sice I’ve been lazy I’ve already got a weeks worth of growth.

So Today is the last day of NaNoWriMo 2006. I have worked on my novel besides my listed word count. I did backup day to ward off the crash gremlins, and I had one anyway. I lost everything. Everything meaningful to me was in the Documents and Settings folder. All personal settings, all project files, manuals for most equipment I’ve worked on, pictures, everything. Now the rest of the directory structure was safe just Documents and Settings got hosed. Smitfraud-C.Toolbar888 was the culprit, I even know where I picked it up. I got it from “Chris Pound’s random name generator”. I feel dirty and clean at the same time. Now the recovery process begins. I lost about a gig of raw data.

The WriMo end

Posted in NaNoWriMo, writing at 05:38 0 by gillsmoke

NaNoWriMo 2006, this is perhaps the worst writing experience I have ever had. My previous low point writing (besides not writing anything for 5 or 6 years) was when my Schizophrenic mother and I were in the same intro English class in my hometown’s Community College. Every paper I did was late, and why? Because my mother was dominating the computer. I remember clearly looking at what she wrote and being horrified that my sinking grade was due to her second grade vocabulary and syntax.

What made NaNoWriMo 2006 so horrible was my low word count. I had overtime dropped on my lap, dental problems, got a skin rash and by then I was cooked. My word deficit is insurmountable by me. I still have not broken ten thousand words, by now I can’t wait for November to be over.

On a positive note NaNoWriMo has renewed my interest in writing. I got a taste with this blog. Now I really want to write and improve as a writer. CRSE has the nonfiction down, that leaves the rest to me. I joined Toasted Cheese which has an ezine, writing prompts, and a forum. So the results of the writing prompts will probably end up here.

Not so good

Posted in NaNoWriMo, writing at 20:28 0 by gillsmoke

So on top of a root cannal last week, I got a weird all over body rash this weekend.
My company is doing something different and we are working the Friday after Thanksgiving. Most of my coworkers are taking the day off, but guess what, I’m going in on Saturday too. Catching up on my NaNo, no the project I got assigned a couple of weeks ago is going to be powered up on Friday and that will put it at a week past delivery. OK.
Well my NaNo is turning out to be a wash this year, but I am committed to finishing it. Maybe.
I am also looking forward to atempting next year.

Must write. must write more.
